Great hub. Loads of ports. Rather than having a tangle of cables at the back of my PC, I've got 14 devices plugged into this hub, then a single cable to the back of the PC.
Things to watch out for
- power, only 5watts per port
- there are restrictions about the number of USB endpoints you can have per USB controller. Each USB device has a number of USB endpoints e.g. a USB soundcard might have an allocation of 5 end points. An Intel PC will have a limit of something like 96 per controller, so you may not be able to have everything plugged in and on-line. USB Device Tree Viewer 3.7.3.1 by www.uwe-siber.de has an option to show the number of endpoints in use which is a great utility.
- power management. A normal active hub will have the capability of turning off the ports when the PC powers off. I have an Amazon Basics hub that does just that - turn off the PC and my USB devices connected to it also power off. With a "charging port" such as the 16 on this hub, you can power each individual port off manually using the button, but the hub does not respond the the PC being turned off in any way - the ports remain on to charge any devices attached. This obviously has advantages and disadvanges. In my case, I plugged the Sabrent hub into a tp-link Tapo plug so I can turn the thing off completely.
Sturdy construction on the main unit, a wall mounting bracket, and a good power supply.
I needed a plug and play hub and this one fits the bill! I have my USB mouse receiver plugged into it nad have no issues. It charges my iPhone 14 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra with no issues. It recognizes all my thumb drives as well. The stand it comes with is a nice tough as well. I also purchased one for my wife's computer, and she loves it. If it is helpful, I am running Windows 11 Home. Highly recommended to add much needed USB ports!
This powered hub is perfect for what I needed. I have 3 external USB drives and this hub runs them all flawlessly. Very fast throughput. Slim design though it does have a plastic case. Extra benefit over comps - USBs plug into the side and not the top making cord management a breeze. Individual power lights and buttons.
Minor complaint - the power light bleeds a bit into the neighboring button. Not a big deal as you can clearly see the one that is lit, but it would have been so easy to separate them when making the mold.
This is a good hub over all and does work well. My issue with it is the hub back feeds power to the raspberry pi I bought it for. This means I cannot just issue a remote reboot. I have to manually unplug the hub, then power cycle and plug it back in. If I don't it will hang on a reboot due to power back feeding. I guess I may need to return this and spring for a better product. Not sure yet, but thus is why I can't give this hub a full 5 stars. Minor issue but overall at least in this case.
