These headphones sound great, the noise cancelling is superb, the only downside is the microphone and the cable is absolute garbage compared to the rest of the product. I have had to replace the mic and cord 3 times now because it will eventually fail either to send sound through the headset or the mic will fail. The last time half of the sound was head through the headset due to the cable breaking somewhere in the dongle. Bose support sent me a new cable but it was just a straight through which does nothing for the mic... They seem to not realize that there is a mic option for their headset.
the product quality is well built. the sound is great the life is short. it is the first headphones i have bought that stopped working with out physically breaking and stopped working the earliest out of all the headphones i have bought. i will not be buying them again.
Hands down, Bose has the best sound quality on the market. The closed ear sound design is incredible. The ear pads are made of this fake leather that degrades in about ~2 years. You can either buy replacement pads from Bose for like $35 or something, or you can buy replacements from third-party manufacturers on Amazon for half as much that are still acceptable quality.
However, this is supposed to be a gaming headset so the input microphone quality should be on-par with the sound output quality; and unfortunately, it is severely lacking. The microphone is too quiet without any hardware or software gain control (Windows already has the microphone at 100% and it's still way to quiet). The mic quality itself is generally poor. The only redeeming feature of the mic is that is doesn't capture background/environmental noise.
These headphones were great for what I needed. However, Bose is only offering a 1 year warranty. After only 1.3 years of general responsible use the microphone connection is failing causing cutouts, static, and delays. This appears to be a design flaw with how the microphone 'clips' to the bottom of the earcup. I will have to buy a replacement if possible to see if that fixes the problem.
